LaGrange Youth Council


The LaGrange Youth Council is an advisory board composed of local youth that provides advice and counsel to the local governing body.

The Youth Council gives local youth a more formal role in the local decision making process offering real world experiences with elected bodies.

Twenty-four junior and senior high school students serve on the LaGrange Youth Council.

Mayor and Council

To be considered, student applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Submittal of this application filled out in its entirety no later than Friday, March 20, 2020. Interviews will be held March 23-April 3. LaGrange Council Members will be selected by April 10th.
  • Be presently enrolled in high school. Applicant will be a junior or a senior in 2020-2021.
  • Attend the mandatory orientation training session in September 2020.
  • Be academically eligible to participate in school sports and extracurricular activities.
  • Be free of any serious disciplinary infractions within the last six months.
  • Be able to think critically and articulate thoughts and ideas.
  • Have an interest in learning about government and how it functions.
  • Possess potential leadership skills.
  • Secure parental or guardian permission and support.
  • Must be a resident of the City of LaGrange.

Upcoming Events

The LaGrange Youth Council is holding its first annual Puppy Parade Saturday, March 21st starting at 9AM in Southbend Park in beautiful downtown LaGrange.

At 9AM, registration will begin. 9:30AM there will be a Blessing of the Pets, and then at 10AM the Puppy Parade will begin. 11AM there will be free microchipping for the first 100 animals.

DRESS TO IMPRESS!!! Feel free to dress up your puppy. You can even decorate a float (wagon) to match! There will be a ‘Best in Show’ Prize for the best float!

To enter the parade, simply bring a bag/can of dog/cat food at 9AM! All the food will go to the City of LaGrange Animal Shelter. The first 100 pets registered will receive a doggy bag!

At 11AM the City of LaGrange Animal Shelter will provide free microchipping for the first 100 animals.

Only dogs who have received their rabies shot are allowed to participate.
