Job Description

An employee in this position will be responsible for enforcing the environmental, sanitation, housing, and utility codes of the City of LaGrange and the State of Georgia. Employee reports to the Community Outreach Unit supervisor. No supervision of others is required or exercised.

Essential Job Functions:

A person in this position typically performs the following duties and associated tasks. No attempt is made to be exhaustive in this listing:

• Respond to customer complaints about improper landscaping, abandoned cars, and poor sanitation practices in their neighborhoods
• Patrol the City and address discovered violations of the City of LaGrange Environmental Codes
• Summon violators to court as necessary
• Gather evidence and present in court as required
• Stay informed about changes in environmental codes
• Maintain detailed records of work performed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Skilled in using tools necessary for carrying out assigned duties
• Knowledge of applicable environmental codes
• Ability to interface with citizens in a polite and professional manner
• Ability to work in a cooperative manner with multiple City Departments
• Ability to write clear and concise letters
• Ability to do basic math

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver’s license

Work Environment:

This position involves daily physical assertions such as recurring standing, climbing, walking, bending, crawling, lifting, and reaching. An employee in this position will interact with their coworkers and the public, daily.
