ORGANIZATION - Special Investigation Unit

 

The LaGrange Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit is made up of two drug investigators, a warrant officer, an evidence technician, a building/maintenance technician, an administrative assistant and a Sergeant. This unit falls under the responsibility of the Criminal Investigation Section Lieutenant. Investigators in the unit are responsible for investigations related to the violation of the Georgia Control Substance Act as well as alcohol violation, tobacco violation, prostitution, and gang activity. This unit supervisor is also responsible for the Warrant Officer, Evidence Technician and Building/Maintenance Technician. The Warrant Officer is responsible for serving arrests warrant throughout the City of LaGrange and Troup County. The Evidence Technician is responsible for all articles of property, and other recovered items. She ensures all items within her control are securely stored and are referenced in the department’s computer data base. Finally, Building/Maintenance Technician is responsible for issuing all assigned officer related equipment and for the up keep of the police department’s building and firing range.
