On July 25, 2006 the Mayor and Council of the City of LaGrange approved
an ordinance dealing with both residential and business alarm systems,
due to excessive false burglar and fire alarms in the city. From January
2002 until December 2005 officers with the Police Department were dispatched
to a total of 13,573 alarm calls. Of these calls a total of 11,782 or
87% were found to be false in nature. The purpose of this new ordinance
is to establish reasonable expectations of alarm users and to ensure
that alarm users are held responsible for their use of alarm systems.
Those households or businesses that currently have an alarm system must
register their system with the city. Failure to register will result
in fines being assessed. If you have not yet received a registration
form one may be printed from this website. Upon its completion it should
be mailed to the following address: City of LaGrange Alarm Tracking
and Billing, PO Box 430, LaGrange, GA 30241-0430.
