An Administrative Liaison, Karen Sanders, operates through the Office of the Chief of Police and is assigned to manage the department’s accreditation and certification programs. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) offers a body of standards to establish up-to-date, best practice recommendations for the delivery of law enforcement services. The department was initially accredited through CALEA in July 1999 and has been since been re-accredited in 2002 and 2005.

The LaGrange Police Department also participates in a similar state certification program that is managed through the Georgia Chiefs of Police Association. Initial certification in this program was received in 1998, with re-certification last being received in 2003. Detective Sanders actively participates in the Georgia Police Accreditation Coalition, Inc., a network of similarly interested law enforcement agencies, to enhance and maintain our department’s continued success in these programs.
